CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETING
Time & Location
About the Event
Consecutive interpreting is a mode of interpreting in which the interpreter listens and analyzes the message one of the conversation participants is speaking, and then delivers the same message into another language while the speaker pauses. During this mode, the speaker is required to pause every 2 or 3 sentences in order for the interpreter to convey the message with accuracy and completeness.
Despite the dominance of simultaneous interpreting, consecutive interpreting is still widely used in many settings such as interpreting during medical encounters.
This 1.5 hour, language-neutral skills-building workshop will challenge your interpreting prowess by practicing the skills that are required for you to become proficient in consecutive interpreting, such as:
- Memory
- Note Taking
- Proper Register (formal and informal)
- Intonation and Expression
During this training the instructor, and CEO / Founder Iliana Sutton, will be teaching you the lesson and afterwards you will have time to practice on your own. After a short window of time you will have a Live Group Final during which the instructor will act as a coach by challenging and guiding you through practice to reinforce the correct Consecutive Interpreting technique and you will have time to shine on the virtual live platform.
